Part of the tela series. A collection of works where I use fabric to honor my abuelita and Tia through my work. My grandma has been sewing for 73 years and my aunt has a luxury draperies business in South Carolina. Now I use the same fabric they’ve used to create work that celebrates and empowers women. 

I draw the women in my life and name each one after the quality I admire the most in them. This piece is called simpática, inspired by one of my sweetest friends.
