from the mujer collection: this collection was made by a woman, inspired by women, and created in honor of women. this series was created to celebrate our femininity, courage and complexity. mujer translates to woman in Spanish, and the afrolatina in me really wanted to take the time to create something that celebrates women with a hint of culture mixed into it! growing up, I have always been surrounded by badass women who do unimaginable things, so I wanted to make something to honor that. I’ve asked several special women in my life to be models for me and I’m excited to finally launch these prints!
✨ DETAILS ✨ This is a physical art print. Once purchased, I will mail it directly to you. Prints are available in various sizes, pick one or take em all. get one for yourself or gift it to a powerful woman who deserves another reason to smile. Printed on #120 thick paper
✨ THIS PRINT ✨ versátil - translates to versatile, or the ability to adapt in different situations. Women are the queens at showing this trait in my opinion. We do what needs to be done to reach our goal, period. Even though I was not the model in this photo, I see myself in her strength. I see myself in her patience, ready to take on what comes next. I look at these and I feel empowered. Every art print in the mujer collection is named after a quality that the women around me possess + I aspire to strengthen in myself. meshing the heart + mind with what fuels the soul. inspred by kaleigh.
✨ INSPIRATION ✨ These drawings were influenced by the women the Dominican Faceless Dolls . The “faceless dolls,” or sin rostro, were initially created by the Dominican artist Liliana Mera Limé back in the 1980s. They were designed with the complexity and sensuality of the woman in mind. The dolls are faceless because the Dominican woman has no ONE face—it is a representation of how our culture is a mixture of African, European and indigenous identities, races and cultures. I wanted to have a faceless woman because the feminine culture itself is extremely diverse, but also all-inclusive. Each female has two styles, two faces: a blank face or a complex one, but both lack traditional facial features.
